I just want to be sure if the bad part is my controller (2120S) or my harddrives

Re: SCSI device not responding

Hi Sergio,

As per the logs it should be the harddrive that has failed.

Logical device is degraded: controller 1, logical device 1 ("RAID1")

The above message confirms that the controller is fine but the Raid 1 is degraded, i.e one of the harddisk has failed.

Failed drive: controller 1, channel 0, SCSI device ID 0

This message indicates that the harddisk installed in controller 1, channel 0, SCSI device ID 0 has failed.

Reseat the harddisk and check if it rebuilds the raid else replace the harddisk.

Regards,
Raj.

Re: SCSI device not responding

oh yeah, but at the moment i have a report that RAID5 is degraded, for scsi id 2 :(
unfortunelly i cant reset so much times, so much services depending on this server.

I want to be sure the controller is really fine.

Re: SCSI device not responding

My experence with the physical drives tells me you have a drive that keeps spinning down then spinning back up. We have seem this as a failure mode. What ever causes the effect, overheat, the drive's control board, the drive will go on and off line intermittantly.
Replace the drive, not the controller
