scsi timeout error

config: Proliant 1600 NT 4.0 sp6a Smart Array 221 (3) ultra scsi 2 drives
DAT drive has been removed.
problem: scsi timeout error reads as follows: The device, \Device\ScsiPort0, did not respond within the timeout period.

All the latest firmware has been installed on the array controller, hard drives and bios. We have been fighting this for sometime now. I have read ALL customer advisories and related issues. have dug extensive throuh the archives for a resolution to this issue. the way it looks I am not the only one running into this.

Have narrowed down to two possible issues:
Hardware problem: hard drive or controller is timing out for some reason
faulty h/w??
Driver issue: the driver the o/s is using is creating problems when reading/writing to the array controller.

Any suggestions? Roger

Re: scsi timeout error

SCSI port 0 is more than likely the on-board SCSI controller. This sometimes happens if nothing is attached to the on-board scsi port. If you attach a terminated cable to the port this error should disappear. If you are not using these ports then go into the F10 partition and disable them. Is you are using the port then go into the F10 and under the port you will see SCSI BUS SPEED. Drop this down to SCSI-2 Compliant. See how that goes.
