Server Fails to boot with software mirror

Hello Everyone.

I have an issue with several different unrelated clients. That issue is that a Server Will not reboot if it uses software mirroring of the hard drives. When attempting to reboot, the server gets to the black screen with the server 2003 bar, and the grey blocks scrolling across and never gets any further.

This is happening on at four clients, they all have these same things in common

Windows Server 2003 service pack 1

Microsoft Exchange server 2003 Sp2

They are Domain Controllers

Mcafee Groupshield 6.0.2 + Virusscan Enterprise 8.0i with patch 11 or greater

HP/Compaq ML330 or 350 G4 that had smartstart 7.4 or later run on them before installing windows.

the server will load and function perfectly on one disk, it will go through the mirror process without errors. but when you reboot, the server will not come back up with the mirroreddrive in. you have to power off, physically remove the drive, then the server will reboot into the OS and function normally.

I will be posting a copy of this thread in the server 2003 newsgroups, and in the mcafee help forums, and in the HP forums, as no single party (MS,HP or Mcafee) has yet made any admission that it is a feature of their software causing this.

any answers or suggestions are welcome.

Thankyou very much for your time in reading this
