Server in continuous restart loop after RAM upgrade.
Hi all,
Last week I attempted a RAM upgrade on a server that has been running fine for over a year.
Server details:
Proliant 585 G5 with 64GB (32 * 2GB) RAM, 4 * quad core processors (so all processor slots used), running Windows server 2008 R2 Enterprise.
I upgraded the RAM to 128GB (32 * 4GB), which the server saw and started perfectly. As soon as Windows started to load it hung while loading the CLASSPNP.SYS file and then rebooted. This cycle continued and I could not get the server to boot at all.
Removing the new RAM and reinstalling the original 64GB let the server boot as normal with no errors.
Can anyone think of a reason why windows would fail to boot just because of a RAM upgrade?
many thanks.

Re: Server in continuous restart loop after RAM upgrade.
Was this issue ever resolved? I just came across this very issue.
