Re: Setup of Proliant Server
first off, did you reviece a "smart start" CD? that will be blueish coloerd. chances are you have 7.00,7.01 or 7.1.
we'll be blowing it away and recreating if there is anything on the server that needs saved. save it now.
boot with the smart start cd and let me know when you are that far.

Re: Setup of Proliant Server
1) be sure you have all the data backed up you want to save.
2) cold boot the system with the smart start CD in.
3) near the end of POST, you'll see an option to hit F-9 to set up server, go in the RBSU (Rom Based Setup Utility). set the date and time, select the boot controller and any options you may want. typically leave the rest as default unless you have added an optional array controller.
4) let the server boot into the smart start setup. at the main screen choose launch setup utility, there it will guide you step by step through assingin drives in the array controller, (you should most likely choose RAID 5). smart start will then prompt you to answer basic questions like which OS to install, partition sizes and the like.
5) it will then ask you to install the OS CD and copy files from it. in about 2 hours you will be done!
