Slot Power Fault - DL380 G3

Hi,

I have a DL380 G3. A few weeks back I got a message in the HP Log saying "Slot Power Fault". I got this message for slot 2 & slot 3 on the system. Nothing was in slot 2. In Slot 3 I had an Adaptec 29160 SCSI card. Attached to that card was an external DAT loader. So from time to time the backups were failed. So we had the loader and cable replaced. That seemed fine for a while. Well started to get the messages again. So we had the scsi card replaced then eventually the riser. It worked fine for a 10 days. Well this pass weekend the server crashed and rebooted. And got hung on a process. So I rebooted the server. It worked fine for an 45 minutes then crashed again. Same error message. "Slot Power Fault". So the server was rebooted again. So for the last 3 hours it has been running. The motherboard has also been replaced out.
Has anyone else experince an issue like this? Nothing new has been added to the system prior to these crashes. Could a Power Converter Module be the issue? Could it be power supplies? What would cause the "slot power fault" error message?
I know I left some gaps here so if you need any more information let me know. Thanks

Thanks for the e-mail. We have done all of that but no luck. The riser as well as the scsi card have been replaced. And the system board was replaced around 2 months ago. The only things not replaced besides the processor, memory is the power supplies and the back plane. I did have the Power Converter module replaced today. So we shall see what happens.

It points to be an issue with the riser cage... You have already replaced it, but is there any chance you can try a different one maybe from another server just to test, or if not, at least try reseating the riser cage and see what happens.
