Slow performance NVMe SSD with MR408i-o DL360 Gen11
We have a new DL360 Gen11 Server with 3 NVMe SSD and 2 SSD SATA as RAID1 on a MR408i-o Controller.
We configured the NVMEe SSD with MR Storage Manager with RAID0, but we only have 1650MB/s read Rate and 7798 mb/s write rate.
I Think the read rate should be much faster. What can be the problem? Anyone an idea?
All Firmwares on the newest version
Thanks in advance

Re: Slow performance NVMe SSD with MR408i-o DL360 Gen11
Hi,
giving your configuration, I assume you have the P48895-B21 8SFF x1 U.3 Tri-Mode Backplane Kit because the MR408 has only 8 Lanes, while you have 5 Drives.
So optional you can choose the P48896-B21 8SFF x4 U.3 Tri-Mode Backplane Kit and MR416 in sizing.
Some Math, what is possible (max):
- 16GB NVMe with X1 you got around 2.0GB/s
-And X2 will give around 3.9GB/s also 8 Drive (but with MR416)
- With X4 7.9GB/s but only 4 Drives with MR416
So finally it's all about sizing and choosing between Capacity <> Performance <> Price.
(Write Rate may be higher because the Controller has a write Cache.)
In your configuration, I would choose the NS204 for the Boot Volume (as a replacement for 2 SSD) and cable the NVMe directly to the CPU without the Raid Controller. This should be cheaper and faster.

Re: Slow performance NVMe SSD with MR408i-o DL360 Gen11
Hello Cali,
I have the same configuration: 3 NVMe and 2 SATA RAID1 in a DL380G11.
How can I cable the 3 NVMe directly to the CPU? What partnumbers can I use?
Kind regards,
Ben
