Smart array 5300
I need to physically move a Smart Array 5300 from an NT 4.0 SP6a server using all 4 external channels connected to a hard drive array TO a Windows 2000 server exactly the same way. The external drives hold a SQL database on 4 mirrors. The old server is a ML530 and the new server is an ML570. Will the 5300 "see" the mirrors correctly, or will they have to be rebuilt?

Re: Smart array 5300
Joe:
The 5300 will "see" the arrays because all the array signatures are on the disks not the controller. If you move all the disks in the order they are in (i.e., all the drives in the StorageWorks Enclosure are un-moved or are moved in the exact order they are in the original enclosure) then you will have no trouble.
I am sure you can inport the data volumes into Win2K. Win2K NTFS can read from NT4 NTFS.
G'luck! -john
