Hello, i need to replace a smart storage battery and 1 defective harddrive on a Smart Array P440ar.

Which part should I replace first without losing my data?

However you do it, you shouldn't lose any data.

The Battery is only for Write Cache if it failed, the Write Cache is disabled, which results in slower performance that's all.

But without a Battery, the Rebuild is also slower.

On the other Handy, replacing the Battery need Power Off the Server, and this is every time a possible problem, if all disks come up, and if already one failed, maybe another did not come Online after Power On, then you have a problem.

So flip a coin. Personally, I would first exchange the disc and accept a longer rebuild time.
