Smart Carrier drive in non hotplug server
Hello,
I would like to ask if I can use Smart Carrier (hotplug) SATA drive in non hotplug variant of ML310e Gen8? Is it physically compatible? is it supported configuration?
I'm asking because our HP distributor has better price and availability for hotplug 1TB SATA drives.
Thank you,
Rudolf

Re: Smart Carrier drive in non hotplug server
Hi,
I personally havent seen or heard of this configuration but I guess its not possible.
Reason being the drive backplane is different for Hot-Plug and Non Hot-Plug drives.
Refer to the QuickSpecs here and check the part# 674839-B21 (HP 4U 4 Large Form Factor Hot Plug Hard Drive Backplane Kit) The LFF Kit is a backplane kit designed for going from NHP LFF to hot-plug LFF.
Thank You!
