solid amber led on new ssd sata 960g

Hi friends.

In a new server recently purchased, ML30 GEN10PLUS, with 2 SATA SSD 960 GB disks MK000960GXNZK, something very strange is happening.

Sometimes one of the disks lights up a solid orange LED, which indicates according to the server manual that the disk has failed, is not supported or is invalid. The disk is new and compatible since the server manual indicates that it is compatible. The Intel VROC controller indicates that there is no disk failure and raid 1 is working correctly.

I have tried moving the disks to another compartment, since I have 8 LFFs and at the moment the amber light has disappeared.

The firmware of the hard drives is HPG0, I have tried to look for a more recent firmware for this specific model of hard drive but I cannot find it. I think that if it were a firmware problem the orange light would appear on both drives, not just 1.

I also installed the latest server SPP P64606_001_gen10spp-2023.09.00.00-SPP2023090000.2023_0902.19.iso, but this spp does not give the option to update disks. Since this server is not yet in production I can perform all the necessary tests. What do you recommend?

Thank you very much to all.

Greetings!

Has the problem resurfaced after relocating the drive to another bay?
If the issue persists in a specific bay, proceed to reseat the HDD backplane and check cable connections (offline). could be cable/bay issue
However, given that you've already initiated a support case, please continue the troubleshooting within that case for resolution.

Unfortunately the disk also fails in another bay.

I think I will have to change the disk.

@BPSingh

Now it is the other hard drive that also turns on the orange light, so I think it is not a problem with the disks since both of them fail in different bays.

HP technicians tell me that they cannot do DOA because they say that the equipment is 3 months old when the purchase invoice shows that it is only 15 days old.

Very angry with the treatment I am receiving.
