SPP 2023.09 / Windows Server 2k16 / Broadcom NX1 Firmware and Driver

Hello,

SPP 2023.09 attempts to install Broadcom NX1 firmware 5.3.5.0 (5.3.6.0 in SPP 2023.09.03). However, since Broadcom appear to have dropped support for Server 2016 this package fails to install:

As a result, firmware compliance is marked as inconsistent:

What are we meant to do about this, other than spinning our own SPPs without the NX1 package? I appreciate that 2k16 is getting old, but it's in LTS until 2027. Broadcom pulling the support renders all of the Gen10s without driver and firmware updates for the next three years.

As an aside, we didn't have this problem with SPP 2022.03.01.

Cheers,

Andy

Apologies this was meant to go into 'Proliant Servers (ML,DL,SL) - perhaps a mod can move it?

Hi andy_I,
    If SPP does not work for you. Can you try installing the driver from HPE Support site ?

Re: SPP 2023.09 / Windows Server 2k16 / Broadcom NX1 Firmware and Driver

@shiva_jr Hi Shiva,

The problem is not the SPP, it is Broadcom who has dropped support for 2k16 in the newer firmware and driver packages. The standalone installers do exactly the same thing.

However HPE doesn't seem to have made any allowances for this in the 2023.09 SPP, which leads to a package mismatch. Surely the OS version can be detected and an appropriate version of the NX1 package be installed?

Cheers,

Andy
