SPP Failure on Windows Server 2016,2019
I am trying to run the SPP on my servers using the "launch_sum.bat" file, and am getting a failure every time:
"Error: Cannot launch sum_service_x64.exe locally. Reason: HTTP Server start failed (failed to open listener)"
I have tried to run it on 4 different Windows Servers (2016 and 2019) and have tried multiple SPPs (both 2020 SPPs and both 2021 SPPs) and get the same error every time.
All firewalls are disabled, and running netstat -ano reveleals nothing listening on 63001 and 2. I have tried both the Domain admin and local administrator accounts.
One commonality across all servers is that they all have IIS installed and running.
Have tried the SPPs on my Windows 10 laptop and they run fine.
Also have tried running SPP from mounted ISO and also from extracted ISO on local drive.

Re: Query: SPP Failure on Windows Server 2016,2019
Hello,
Please ensure HTTP/HTTPs port is open.
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=mmr_kc-0119164
Also, please try changing the network ports SUM uses by editing the sum.ini file or using the /port or /ssl_port CLIparameters. For more information on using SUM CLI mode, see the Smart Update Manager CLI Guide.The following commonly used alternate network ports are:
Procedure
1.port=63001 edit to port=8088
2.ssl_port=63002 edit to ssl_port=8089

Thanks.

Re: Query: SPP Failure on Windows Server 2016,2019
Ok I was able to get it run by using "smartupdate /port 24000 /ssl_port 24001" but still not sure why it wont run using the default 63001,63002 ports? netstat does not show anything listening on those 2 ports?
