Tape Enclosure DAT72
A customer has an A7443A (DAT72 inside a rack enclosure). They would like to use the spare bay in the storage enclosure for a pluggable hard disk, to be used for high-speed backup / data transfer instead of the tape drive.
Is such a device available? I suppose they want the 'principal' of a USB hard disk drive which they can plug into the system and unplug whilst the server system is running.
Maybe this isnt a great idea on a server... I have my views about this, but the customer is quite insistent on their requirements.
Other than another half-height tape device, do HP make anything else which is intended for the spare bay in the tape enclosure?
I suppose the name (Tape Enclosure) speaks volumes about it's intended purpose!
Thanks
Clive

Re: Tape Enclosure DAT72
It's probably not going too be supported by HP, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work: You should be able to add a non hotplug scsi drive into the same enclosure. You can find the different drives available at:

The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..
