Temperature Sensor Condition
This CPQ 1850R Server has too many problems. The system was rebooted during installing the NT4.0 and the temperature problems...
Server installed with NT4.0, IIS, Latest SSD, System BIOS 11/08/2000, SMART 4200 ver. 1.30....
*** Following is a list what we had done so far.
- System board has been replaced.
- New memory (Using PC-100Mhz SDRAM DIMM)
- Power Supply were replaced
*** Now the problem is system has ASR (Server Auto Restart) almost every day. See the error message.
"Compaq System Information Agent Compaq Health: A Temperature Sensor Condition has been set to degraded. The system may or may not shutdown depending on the state of the thermal degraded action value 3.
What should I check on this HW system? how to fix this repeatedly problem
Thanks!! Cho tran CTRAN@IMF.ORG

Re: Temperature Sensor Condition
well a few things..first are all the fans spinning? second are you running this system with the casing open? the thermal sensors and air flow are designed to be run with the box closed...third what environment is the server in..is it temperature controlled? fourth if this is a rack mount model then you need to locate sw1 on the system board (6 bank dip switch) and make sure switch 3 is ON. this is only for rack though...
