Unable to see CD drive

I am trying to boot a CD in start up and I doesn't happen.
In the event log I get the problem :-

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
atapi

This is a fatal error in the system log with the Source:- Service Control Manager and the Event ID:7026.

Also the CD drive is not visible in explorer.

What service pack is installed on NT (assuming NT 4.0)? Is this the standard CD-ROM drive we shipped?

NT Service pack 5.
I replaced the CD Drive with a new one from Compaq support and this made no difference as the Server is still unable to see the CD drive.
