Re: Unsupported Processor
this error happens most likely due to:
1) you installd 2nd CPU which is not the same as the 1st one
2) you installed quad-core CPU on a system board which supports only dual core CPUs
If none of the above is true, remove the 2nd CPU , update the System ROM(for G4 & G5 servers) :
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&swItem=MTX-8141ddd7398a47ba87134a90dd&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
and install the 2nd one.
Also be sure that they are having the exact same type.
If still same error, crosschange the CPUs...
If the problem persists, name he modell, the product number of the CPUs, the system rom versions and how did you got the error...

Re: Unsupported Processor
Old processor 1.4 ghz p4 xeon 256k l2 512k l3
New processor 3.0 ghz p4 xeon 512k l2 4096k l3
The bios would not recognize ... went back to old processors, will try again, need to know the bios level to update to ...
I don't usually touch them if I can help it!
This is an end-of-life upgrade ...

Solutionif you use only the new CPUs, with system rom update it should work.
return old CPUs, then use Firmware CD 7.70(contains the latest BIOS) :
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?swItem=MTX-972cf5b8b8fe4473ad460c68e5тМй=en&cc=us&mode=3&
burn the .iso to a CD, boot from it and update.
Then shutdown, remove the old CPUs and install the new ones.
Regards
