Update BIOS on Proliant D380p Gen8?

I know this is a very old (and obsolete) server, but it serves me well (pun intended) so I see no need to upgrade it to newer server.

The problem is that the BIOS on this server is quite old: SMBIOS 2.8. The new(er) System ROMPaq Firmware Upgrades have all been removed due to a security issue with the installer. So how do I update the BIOS now? I'm experiencing a slowdown problem on the server which I'm trying to solve.

"dmesg | grep BIOS" shows (amongst other things)  this:

[ 0.000000] SMBIOS 2.8 present.
[ 0.000000] DMI: HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8, BIOS P70 05/24/2019
[ 0.007090] ACPI BIOS Warning (bug): Invalid length for FADT/Pm1aControlBlock: 32, using default 16 (20220331/tbfadt-669)
[ 0.007093] ACPI BIOS Warning (bug): Invalid length for FADT/Pm2ControlBlock: 32, using default 8 (20220331/tbfadt-669)
[ 0.089339] DMAR: [Firmware Bug]: No firmware reserved region can cover this RMRR [0x00000000000e8000-0x00000000000e8fff], contact BIOS vendor for fixes
[ 0.089407] DMAR: [Firmware Bug]: Your BIOS is broken; bad RMRR [0x00000000000e8000-0x00000000000e8fff]
BIOS vendor: HP; Ver: P70; Product Version:
[ 0.089426] DMAR-IR: x2apic is disabled because BIOS sets x2apic opt out bit.
[ 0.089427] DMAR-IR: Use 'intremap=no_x2apic_optout' to override the BIOS setting.
[ 0.140576] Performance Events: PEBS fmt1+, IvyBridge events, 16-deep LBR, full-width counters, Broken BIOS detected, complain to your hardware vendor.
[ 0.140608] [Firmware Bug]: the BIOS has corrupted hw-PMU resources (MSR 38d is 330)

No clue what that all means, but I'm sure it translates to "you need a newer BIOS"

So how do I go about that? Thanks in advance!

Re: Update BIOS on Proliant D380p Gen8?

Thank you for your answer!

I was able to trace the slow-down of the server. It was a problem with Google's DNS. As soon as I replaced those for other DNSs, the problem went away. However, I still want to upgrade the BIOS since I'm suspecting the current BIOS is preventing the server from running at its full potential.

As soon as I have some spare time (again), I'll try your suggestions. Again, thanks a lot for your help!
