Updating Server and ILO Firmware of Proliant Dl3603 Gen8

Hi,

I have a Proliant DL360e Gen8 that I will be using as Lab server. Currently installed Windows Server 2012 R2.  Configured ILO 4 with v2.55.

Need some help to direct me to the appropriate latest version of Server Firmware and ILO firmware? When you update the Server firmware, this will update all the software/hardware drivers? Will it affect the raid controller installed Dynamic Smart Array B320i Controller?

Thanks!

Hi @marsots ,

You can click on this link  to download latest version of Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) which will update all the firmware (SPP will update the iLO firmware as well) and drivers of the server.

It won't affect current configuration of the Smart array controller, but upgrades the firmware which is necessary for the controller to work smoothly.
If you feel System update affects the controller, then you can opt for Interactive mode of installation and uncheck the Controller firmware.

Thank you!

Thanks for the info. How about if I will only upgrade the ILO 4? Do you have the direct link?

Hi @marsots ,

Please find the link for the latest version of iLO 4. Extract the file, get the .bin file, update it from iLO.

Any confusion, then follow the installation instruction in the link.

Re: Updating Server and ILO Firmware of Proliant Dl3603 Gen8

Hi, I noticed on the latest ILO 4 installer link,  it says: This component provides and installs an updated version of firmware for the iLO 4 Management Processor on Windows 32 bit Operating System. Use this component with Smart Update Manager to update supported HPE ProLiant Gen8 and Gen9, HPE Apollo Gen9, and HPE Synergy 480 Gen9 systems. Click the “Installation Instructions” tab to review important firmware update details.

The Proliant DL360e Gen8 I have is running Windows Server 2012 R2 64 bit OS.

Will it matter if I install or the ILO 4 installer upgarde got to be a 64 bit Operating System?

Thanks

If you extract the iLO-4 .bin file, and use the web browser method to update the iLO, it makes no difference if it was the windows 32 bit or 64 bit download, the .bin file is the same. I'm using the ilo4_282.bin file extracted from the windows 32 bit download, to update the iLO in my Red Hat Linux servers and my VMware vSphere ESXi hypervisors and it works just fine.
