Upgrade disks currently in raid controller
Currently have a HP server with 4 HDs, 2 x mirror sets setup on raid card B140i
One of the arrays is starting to run out of space.
If I use macrium reflect to clone one of the drives, changing partition size during clone, then put the second new drive in with the intention of rebuilding the raid.
Will the raid card see the new cloned disk, with larger space as part of the existing array or will it see it as a completely new disk.
Thanks in advance

Re: Upgrade disks currently in raid controller
If raid configured and once you insert the drive will see it as a completely new disk.

Re: Upgrade disks currently in raid controller
Is there an accepted method to achieve drive replacement with larger drives.
failing that it seems the only option is to clone drive then switch off raid and use windows software raid

Re: Upgrade disks currently in raid controller
Hello,
In this situation, I would suggest you take the complete data backup after that delete and re-create the raid again.
If you feel this was helpful please click the KUDOS! thumb below and accept the solution.
