Upgrading ml370 g2 to dual Xeons
Are dual Xeon processors compatable with my ml370 g2? I dont want to see my $6,500 system explode in a firey spectacle of obsolesence... my pIII 1.266 just doesnt cut it anymore =/

Re: Upgrading ml370 g2 to dual Xeons
Hi Tim,
Your dl370,g2 is upgradable to dual processor, and with the1.266 model you can add the
Pentium III P1.266-512K Processor Option Kit number 231117-b21 or the higher speed of the same family of processors but then you can???t mix speed. Make sure you also upgrade the system rom. Xeon pIII uses a different technology than the Petium III of your Ml370,g2 1.266.
Hope this helps
Claude

Re: Upgrading ml370 g2 to dual Xeons
Thanks a lot for replying, its the best luck I've had so far with compaq!
I have also seen "processor option kits" for my ml370 G2... Do you think they are safe? I tracked down a 2.2ghz xeon option kit for my ml370 G2(which has the dual processor board), and i was wondering if your last reply was only to the extend of what compaq recomends.

Re: Upgrading ml370 g2 to dual Xeons
Hi Tim,
Unfortunatly the Xeon 2.2gh won???t work (different technology). The only option available for this server (ml370,g2) are:
Pentium III P1.266-512K Processor Option Kit 231117-B21
Pentium III P1.133-512K Processor Option Kit 238888-B21
Pentium III P1.400-512K Processor Option Kit 231118-B21
You can check out part the following URL:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/servers/proliantml370/index.html
Hp only support genuine supported parts.
Hope this will help
