We are currently experiencing the following situation: We configure our DL360 G4 (Smart Array Controller 6i) with SmartStart. We then start our Red Hat Linux (V3 Enterprise release 2.4.21) build. As soon as it boots off the Red Hat Linux CD it says: "No harddrives recognised". I have gone through the forum and it looks like there is an issue with Red Hat and the Smart Array v 6i. So I have downloaded the latest 6i driver for Red Hat Linux. But when the Linux install says "No harddrives recognised" and I try and give it the new driver - it does not seem to recognise the driver. The downloaded driver is a rpm and the resident Linux expert (not me) reckons a rpm is only meant for after installation...so my questions are:
Is this correct that I have my driver in rpm format at installation? or do I need another format? If so where can I get the driver in that format? Any other ideas/suggestions?

Re: Urgent: DL360 G4 and Red Hat Linux install issue
This issue has been discussed quite a few times, the reason for this is
RedHat does not have the dirver for the Raid controller that is the reason it cannot find the disks to resolve this
1.Download the driver from the HP website and create the floppy(instructions are on the site as of how to create the floppy)
2.Provide the driver at the time of install with the have disk option which will prompt you to put the floppy after reading the floppy it will sense the harddrive
PLEASE REMEMBER TO CREATE THE RAID PARTITION BEFORE THE OS INSTALL.
Hope this helps

Re: Urgent: DL360 G4 and Red Hat Linux install issue
HP supplied me with RHEL3 update 1. This does load the driver cciss but does not discover the logical array.

Re: Urgent: DL360 G4 and Red Hat Linux install issue
If you don't want to run the autorun, you can find the /punchout/linux/lnxbldr.sh script on the CD to run the utility manually. The actual drivers are in /punchout/linux/
These drivers are placed there because it is not always possible to get the latest drivers into the updates prior to the options ship date.
Hope this helps,
