USB HASP ON PROLIANT DL580G2 PROBLEM

Hello everyone

We running application licenced using hasp on w2k sp3
Proliant dl580g2 is not equiped with centronics interface so we tried usb hasp
Unfortunately we always get message in system event log as follows:
"The hardlock service failed to start due to the following error:
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. "

The same hardlock (USB)is running well on any other server equiped with centronics interface

Any idea ?

Re: USB HASP ON PROLIANT DL580G2 PROBLEM

USB is only implemented at the OS level. if your OS supports USB it should not be a problem (and W2K does support USB)
try inserting the USB after the OS is loaded and make sure it is recognized in the device manager.
if it is recognized it should work. else, check with the manufacturer of the USB device.
There are no bugs, only undocumneted features

Re: USB HASP ON PROLIANT DL580G2 PROBLEM

Hi:
I have the same problem that you.
I have a Proliant DL580 G2 2,8 Ghz with Windows Server 2003 (English) and I can't install de HASP device driver.
Do you have a solution?

Thank you

Re: USB HASP ON PROLIANT DL580G2 PROBLEM

I have a customer with the same problem.
The issue is not OS related. Certain Compaq presario computers had the same problem when trying to install the Parallel version of the hardlock drivers.

Try the following.

Add you the Environment Variables
HL_SEARCH

Make the value
USB, 278e, 378e, 3BCe

I am still in the process of trying to get Aladdin (makers of the hardlocks) to give me a real fix to the issue. The above solution is a slight modification to the fix that I created for the parallel port hardlock issue.

Good Luck.

Re: USB HASP ON PROLIANT DL580G2 PROBLEM

Hello,

I have worked with Aladdin to fix this issue.
You need to download and install the latest drivers from Alladin. Follow these steps.

1) Download: http://www.ealaddin.com/support/

2) Should run "hldinst.exe -remove" to remove the current driver.

3) Followed by "hldinst.exe -install". Both from the command prompt.

Re: USB HASP ON PROLIANT DL580G2 PROBLEM

We are encountering the same problem. Has anyone got a solution that works. Driver installs fine on a DL380 running Win2003; it fails on a DL580 G2 running Win2003.

Thanks
