Hi all,
We have a ML350 Gen9 with a embedded 440ar raid controller connected to a single cage with 8 drives. Running ESXi 6.5 . Works great, no issues.
Recently, we adquired a new controller, a Smart Array P440/4GB FBWC 12Gb 1-port with a 8-bay Cage to enlarge the servers storage capacity.
Is this server able to manage two different RAID controllers, each one using his SATA channel, and each one with its own disks, creating different RAID gropus andd Volumes to show to the operating system?
I've seen around that another way to do it is using a SAS Expander Card... I'm not asking for this layout. Anyway, if my layout is not feasible, we will see if we can aquire a SAS expander card.
Thanks in advance!!

Re: Using 2 RAID controllers on a ML350 Gen9
Hello,
there is no problem having multiple Raid Controllers in the System.
Have this many times in the Field.
As you know, they can not share the Drives.
SAS Expander is a PCI Card and an alternate solution.
Pro Expander: All Disks in one Controller usable
Pro Controller: More Performance and Cache
