Hi all,
Just purchased 2 new servers and 3 1GB modules of DIMM. The plan was to have both servers running with 2MB RAM (since both come with 512).
I set up the first one (by removing the 512 in there and put in 2 sticks each of 1GB)
Im having a bit of trouble setting up the second one though, as it will only work with either one 512, two 512's, or one 1GB module. (ie it powers up but gives the two beeps and an error message)
Could anyone tell me if I was wrong in assuming that I could 'mix' the two different sizes?
Thanks,
Peter

Solution
Peter,
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12092_div/12092_div.html#Memory
"Memory must be populated in one of the following ways: Slot 1 only; slots 1 and 2 only (pairs must be of the same size); or slots 1, 2, 3, and 4 (pairs must be of the same size and in the example below with slots 1 and 2 the same and slots 3 and 4 the same)"
So, according specification you cannot get 2 Gb RAM per each server if you have two 512 modules and three modules of 1 Gb.

Re: Using different sized RAM modules in new Proliant ML150
Thanks Igor.
You've confirmed what I suspected, but had failed to find online.
Cheers,
Peter
