Using DL385 Gen10 with GPU NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000

Hi there,

We want use DL385 Gen10 with NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000 (and AMD Epyc). 

We need VMs with vGPU for AutoCAD, Solidworks, 3D Studio. We are going do it with VMware vSphere 6.7 U3.

Info about that rear configuration from QuickSpecs:

QuickSpecs HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 Server

HPE NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000 Graphics Accelerator

• NOTE: Max Qty=1 Doublewide GPU is allowed per riser
• NOTE : This option requires High Performance Fan Kit (867810-B21) and High Performance Heat sink (882098-B21)
• NOTE: This option IS NOT supported with 166W or higher Processors
• NOTE: System memory restriction < 128 TB
• NOTE : This GPU requires Pwr Cable Kit (871830-B21) to be selected
• NOTE: Not supported on 12 LFF chassis

There are cople questions about that. Help me please.

1. We want use Epyc 7702 which 200W. Can we use it or not? Or we should use ONLY cpu with power consumption <166W? If so, we will can use Epyc 7452 and RTX 8000 together?
2. Is it possible to use 2 GPU in one DL385 Gen10? What additional parts are needed?
3. Is it correct System memory restriction < 128 TB although Maximum capacity (LRDIMM) 4.0 TB? Can we use RTX 8000 with 384 GB?

Please find the answers for the queries.

1. We want use Epyc 7702 which 200W. Can we use it or not? Or we should use ONLY cpu with power consumption <166W? If so, we will can use Epyc 7452 and RTX 8000 together?   Ans: With RTX 8000 option, the CPU has to be within the supported power limits.
2. Is it possible to use 2 GPU in one DL385 Gen10? What additional parts are needed?   Ans: 1 GPU is allowed per supported riser and the required power cable. This is subject to any other requirements or limitations as per the available quickspecs documentation.
3. Is it correct System memory restriction < 128 TB although Maximum capacity (LRDIMM) 4.0 TB? Can we use RTX 8000 with 384 GB? Ans: As per the documentation, the memory support is limited if the particularly mentioned GPU options are included.

Unfortunatly I didn't get answers for all my questions. It is important to me because the hardware is too expencive. Can you answer to eache question separetly?

1. Is it possible to use Epyc 7702 and RTX 8000 in DL385 Gen10 together?
2. Is it possible to use 2 GPU RTX 8000 in DL385 Gen10?
3. Is it possible to use RTX 8000 with 384 GB in DL385 Gen10?
