using UPS with GL380 G6

Any settings need to change to mkaje GL 380 G6 work with a APC UPS.? The windows 2008 GL 380 server has dual power supplies and is connected to UPS, but when power goes out, the system GL380 shuts down when actually it should remain powered up. Have tested the UPS with another gateway server and it works with the gatewayserver.

"_GL_380 G6"? Do you mean DL380 G6?
Too bad you didn't include the model of the UPS. APC makes a lot of UPSes of different sizes.

It's possible that the DL380 G6 requires more power than the UPS can provide. Perhaps your gateway server has a smaller power requirement.

The DL380 G6 can have several different power supplies, so you'll have to identify your power supply type first. Then find the wattage/amperage ratings at the HP Quickspecs webpage:

Once you know what wattage/amperage your server needs, check the UPS's documentation: can it provide that much when running on battery?

Re: using UPS with GL380 G6

I cannot speak authoritatively about the DL380 G6, but several of us have issues with the G6 series of the ML350. We have determined that they require a 'true sine wave' or 'double conversion' type of UPS. The Power Supplies are so sensitive (due to their energy effecient design) that they cannot with stand millisecond delays of the lower end UPS. It has little to do with size, but rather the design type.

The following post might be worth a read. Not saying it is the same issue, but worth looking into.

Re: using UPS with GL380 G6

Almost all of the 300 series servers use the same power supply (DL360 is one that does not) and they all require enterprise class UPS's.
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..

Also remember to check the Power Options in Windows itself (not the APC software).
You might find that it is set to power off or suspend the system when on battery.
