very poor interactive performance during network copy on dl 360g5
nic is nc131i i guess.
I copy a file to the server at maximum speed on our network, which is 100mbit full duplex. During the copy process the taskmanager is showing 4% cpu usage at maximum, nothing more. But on that box i can't do anything else I can't even press start button. the menu will open about 2 minutes later. It looked like a scheduler problem or whatever. No other process will get CPUtime. It's really annoying. After stopping the copy process everything works fine again. Does somebody else discover this problem? regards, dennis

Re: very poor interactive performance during network copy on dl 360g5
As always, I would recommend the basics; Firmwares & drivers & softwares !!
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/20_6215.html
Or You can use the firmware maintenance CD from
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/27783.html?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
&
Proliant Support Pack 7.6 from :
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/24183.html
& if even this don't resolve it, then
Boot from a SmartStart CD & run a Complete Diagnostics !
Regards,
James.

Re: very poor interactive performance during network copy on dl 360g5
after updating everything try disable TOE.
Since this is a G5 server and uses the 373i Multifunction NICs, try disabling TCP Offload Engine for each NIC, there are known issues with these NICs.
If you use teaming, disable TOE from NCU and recreate the team.

Re: very poor interactive performance during network copy on dl 360g5
If you do a transfer which does not involve the transfer of a file (eg netperf TCP_STREAM) does the system become similarly unresponsive?
