WBEM agent configuration for DL380 G6 on RHEL 5.5
Hi,
I am trying to configure the WBEM agent on a RHEL 5.5 OS (DL380 G6). This is the first time I use WBEM (besides HP ESXi).
I downloaded and installed the following to packages form http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3884082&swItem=MTX-e4807dc640744cad97f0d689e1&prodNameId=3884083&swEnvOID=4006&swLang=13&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=1:
*hpmgmtbase-2.10-16.rhel5.i386.rpm (658 KB)
*hp-smx-02.03-10.rhel5.i386.rpm (14 MB)
As I am using HP SIM, I don't want to manage a HP SMH environment for each server.
After installing hpmgmtbase, tog-pegasus (from repository, needed by hp-smx) and hp-smx, I startd tog-pegasus and hpmgmtbase.
I edited the /etc/Pegasus/access.conf file, by giving root also external access:
+: root: ALL
HP SIM has the root password (credentials).
Iptables is temporary desactivated.
At discovery I get the following log in SIM:
Normal: This system has WBEM protocol support.
Minor: This system does not have any SMI-S CIMOMs installed. No storage
systems will be found on this system.
Normal: This system has a server CIMOM installed.
* Running WBEM rules based identification...
Minor: The computer system information is not available on the managed
system; For HP hardware, please check the HP site to get the HP
WBEM provider.
Minor: Identification cannot get computer system hardware data from the
WBEM / WMI providers.
Under Managemet Protocols (in the sytem page), I have the following: SNMP:1.0, WBEM:1.0
I only have ping and snmp under the Health Status tree. So no WBEM.
Did I forget something when configuring WBEM, why doesn't it work?
I read in some posts that the WBEM providers are for Integrity servers only, but did not find any HP document saying the same. Is this correct?
Thanks.

Re: WBEM agent configuration for DL380 G6 on RHEL 5.5
hmm, i've noticed there is WBEM available for RH5x, but we still ride on RH4 with SNMP only so no experience...
Have you read some manuals regarding it?

See http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-6518/5991-6518.pdf, "HP WBEM Providers for Linux

2) Installing and Configuring:
You can install the HP WBEM Providers using HP Integrity Essentials Foundation Pack for Linux
