Trying to put together a consiguration for an HP DL380 G5 using the HP Configurator tool and one of the HP support options reads "HP 3 Yr 4 Hour 24x7 w/DMR HW Support"
What does w/DMR mean?
Thanks
Lenny

Solution
w/DMR = with Defective Media Retention.
You get to keep any damaged hard disks.
If you have sensitive data on your disks, you would not want to send failed disks out of your site. Someone might be able to recover some of your data from them using proper equipment.
In that case, you must pick a support option which allows you to keep any failed disks, so that you can destroy them using your standard destruction procedure for sensitive computer storage media. If you get your HW support from HP, "w/DMR" is this option. Other support providers might use different names.

DMR:
Optional Defective Media Retention Service - A standard hardware warranty or service contract requires payment for a replacement part if a defective one is not returned to HP. This option lets you protect sensitive data by keeping your defective disk, without paying for the replacement.

Hope this helps!
