When to SAS Expander Card vs. Separate Controller
For a server we have spec'd - DL370 G6 with a total of 3 SFF drive cages (up to 24 SFF drives) - where would we use the SAS Expander vs. adding one or possibly two separate P410 Smart Array controllers?
Can each Drive Case connect to a separate controller?
If yes, is cost the main reason to use the SAS Expander over a separate P410 controller on each drive cage?
HP SAS Expander Card 468406-B21
(SFF) 2nd Drive Cage Kit 507803-B21
Thanks,
Dan Foxley

Re: When to SAS Expander Card vs. Separate Controller
Hi
It depends on what you want to do
If you use the expander card your arrays can be spanned across different drive cages. If you use seperate P410, each controller will own the arrays within the cage its connected to
