Will removal of spare drive from array lose data?

Hi all

Quick question bout an array and removing a spare drive....

In a raid 1+0 configuration on a DL380 G7 there is a spare SAS drive that has been configured (no idea who set it up initially) - if I use the insight manager and the remove spare tool will all the data be lost on the existing drives?  I have attached a couple of pics to show what I mean....

I just need confirmation that no data will be lost and that the array will not be wiped...

Many thanks

Dave

Looks like the spare disk is dead?

Remove the spare from config (your 4th screenshot) and remove the disk or just replace the disk with a new disk.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Hi Torsten

Thanks for the reply - the drive doesnt exist so not sure why whoever set it up like that did that - this wont have any effect on the data on the existing disks will it?

Many thanks
