Win XP driver for scanner-keyboard

The driver for my Compaq scanner-keyboard will not load under Windows XP, message is pport.drv failed. Does anyone have a solution? I uninstalled and reinstalled Visioneer 5.3 software on Compaq disks version 3.5.4, to no avail.

Furthur information: I also tried PaperPort version 7.0 and it does not work with the scanner-keyboard with WinXP. PaperPort tells me that version 8 works with WinXP, but to see the scanner manufacturer for XP driver support. Since I could, and did, buy a scanner with Paperport software for less than the cost for version 8, even it did work, I have retired my beloved Compaq scanner/keyboard (actually gave it to my wife who still runs Win98). I will miss it. Thanks for the information, and if you do develop a WinXP driver please let me know.
