Windows 2000 takes 10 minutes to shutdown on DL-380 G3

I have a few HP DL-380 G3 servers with 5si controllers and every time I perform a Windows 2000 server shutdown or restart it takes 10 minutes for either command to run.

The screen will clear and the background will be empty. The system will wait 10 minutes, then it will run the command.

Any ideas?

Thank you

You maybe have activated the Group Policy to clear the virtual memory file (pagefile) at shutdown. That generally takes quite some time - specially if you have a large one.

I am having the same problem and do NOT have the 'clear virtural memory at shutdown' enabled.
To muddy the waters further, I have Sql Server 2000 running on the server as well.
I would love to get this resolved!

Sorry! I spoke too soon! Just did a double-check on the server and that policy was enabled. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Jonas!

We did have Group Policy set to clear the virtual memory file (pagefile) at shutdown.

I disabled this setting and I tried multiple restarts and the results are the same.

Thank you for the suggestion.

There is nothing in the event logs that points to a problem.
