Windows Server 2016 (1709) can't installed on HP Proliant DL380 Gen9
Hi All.
I have a Problem with the install of Windows 2016 (Vers. 1709). I boot from Intelligent Provisioning, install looks fine.
But when the Driver installation is done, the Server hung up in HPE Boot Logo.
When i try to install Windows Server 2016 (Vers. 1803 and 1735 Preview Build) there is no Problem.
Server is HP Proliand DL380 Gen9 and Drivers, ILO, etc. are up to date and latest.

While installing the Windows Server 1709 Operating System on HPE ProLiant Gen9 servers, the operating system installation stops while on the graphics screen displaying the “Hewlett Packard Enterprise” logo page after loading the installation files. Microsoft and HPE are aware of this issue, have found root cause and are planning to release a fix on or about 12/12/2017. It will be documented in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article KB4055537 as well as an HPE Customer Advisory.
This is only an issue with Windows Server 1709 (Semi-annual Channel Release)
Windows Server 2016 builds are not affected by this issue.

Any update on this issue? We are having the same problem with ADK 1709 and HP Gen9 Servers. I searched for the above hotfix but it doesnt look like it was ever released. I called Microsoft Support and our tech didnt seem to know anything about it.

The release date of the update from Microsoft with this fix has been changed to on or about 1/9/2018. If you need the update sooner, you can request it directly from Microsoft support.
Contact Microsoft support and reference KB4055537
If you or your company have a support contract with Microsoft, then follow the normal process of opening a support case, otherwise,
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/assistedsupportproducts
Type 1709 in the dialog box and select either Standard or Datacenter
Complete the remaining questions to create a support case in order to receive the update

This only works if you have paid support. any way to get this fix without paid support? I can't locate the microsoft knowledge base link either on the microsoft site.

The patch is included in the WS2016 cumulative update KB4056892.
KB4055537 contains the instructions for slipstreaming the update into the Windows Server 1709 Volume license .iso image from MSDN or MS VL download site.
KB4055537
