BIOS sees my 960 GB drive as a 1 GB drive
I recently bought a Kingston 960 GB SSD drive (SA400S37/960G), but when I install it in my server, it identifies the drive as SM59XT2A, apparently an old HP Laptop drive of only 1 GB:
https://linux-hardware.org/?id=scsi:sm59xt2a-10-00961001
What's going on here? If I place the drive in a USB harddrive holder, everything is fine.. The label on the drive clearly says it's a Kingston SSD drive of 960 GB.
Operating System: Debian GNU/Linux 12.2 12.2

Re: BIOS sees my 960 GB drive as a 1 GB drive
Hello,
May we know the model number of the server please ?
It depends on the compatibility of the drive with the server.
You can google (Server model + quickspecs) to check the server specifications and drive compatibility.
Thanks,
TAM

Re: BIOS sees my 960 GB drive as a 1 GB drive
Hello,
This server does not support 960 GB Drive, however it supports the maximum storage of 960 GB with 4 , 240 GB Drives. Please refer to the below quick specs :
https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/a00073554enw (Page 6 & 17)
You need to get a compatible drive to get this working. Please make sure the drive is an HPE drive, so that there are no compatibility issues in the future.
Thanks,
TAM
