Boot Issues with Storage controller an Intelligent Provisioning

I just picked up a new to me a legacy Proliant Micostation. Post looks normal. Neither the B121 storage controller nor Intelligent Provisioning will respond to the correct function key selection. I was able to enter setup with F9 key but the other sections don't respond . Do I need to flas bios or some other configuration setting?

Many thanks for you time.

Re: Boot Issues with Storage controller an Intelligent Provisioning

Hello,

Most times this is an indication that the Intelligent Provisioning (IP) on the server may be damaged. I would recommend reflashing it with the ISO and verify if it works following that. You can create a bootable USB key or mount the ISO and boot from it to reinstall it.

Note: v1.x of IP is for Gen8 servers. I put the link in for that as I believe the controller you are using is the one in the MicrosServer Gen8 model. If this is a different model, then get the appropriate version for that (v2.x is for Gen9's and v3.x is for Gen10's).

Yeah, I over flashed my last machine and looks like someone got to this before I could.

The repair program hangs when contacting the BMC?

Anything else to be done at this point?

Re: Boot Issues with Storage controller an Intelligent Provisioning

Hi @djQuecke,

Good day!

You can try clearing the BIOS - using System Maintenance Switch if available.

or using System Utilities if that loads.

You can try minimum Configuration if you can remove the additional components leaving the Bare Minimum.

If nothing works, this may needs System Board replacement.

Thank you

Re: Boot Issues with Storage controller an Intelligent Provisioning

You don't happen to have a link for the system utilities do you. I've tried just about everything.

I've got 4 brand new 4tb HDD and get them recogognized no matter what I try.

I'm going to mark this solved but I sure could use that link.

Cheers,

Hi @djQuecke,

Good day!

System Utilities should be available when you restart the Server and press F9 / other Function keys displayed on POST Screen.

But even if that is unavailable, clearing BIOS from System Maintenance Switch may help

Thank you
