Can I change from a 5160 quadcore cpu to an E5345 cpu?
Hi,
I have a DL380 G5 that has a single 5160 3GHz quad core cpu. I'd like to replace the cpu with two E5345 2.33 GHz quad core cpus. Does anyone know if it's possible, and if anything else needs to change (system board etc?)
The part number of the server is 418315-421
(We want to change the cpu to maintain ESX processor compatability with other servers, in case anyone's interested.)
Thanks in advance
Phil Moore

Re: Can I change from a 5160 quadcore cpu to an E5345 cpu?
Hi Phil,
You can, but you'd need a system board change too.
System board for Xeon 51xx CPUs = SP# 407749-001
System board for Xeon 53xx CPUs = SP# 436526-001
Hope this helps
Thanks
Mark...
