DL380 G9 - DISK LED NOT WORKING

I have some old ilo3 servers and in ilo3 I can list disks and illuminate the disk UID.

I cannot seem to do the same thing on a G9 server in ilo4. I go thru the steps of illuminating the LED, but no LED lights up.

Any suggestions,

BS

Re: Query: DL380 G9 - DISK LED NOT WORKING

Not seeing the anser in those docs, other than the location of the blue light.

Didn't see any ILO instructions either.

ilo3 displayed the disks, and had a simple uid checkbox for the led to illuminate, nothing similar in ilo4., unless it's a licensing thing.

Thanks for the leads

Re: Query: DL380 G9 - DISK LED NOT WORKING

Hi @GetItRight

Can you give a try to below instructions:

1. Update the firmware to latest version.

2. Check if iLO can identify the drives

3. Use the correct method for illumination: The steps should typically involve navigating to the Storage section in iLO, finding the specific drive, and clicking on Illuminate or enabling the UID LED. Double-check that the right drive is selected and that the iLO has properly registered the request.

4. Some features in iLO, including drive illumination, depend on the RAID controller. Make sure you are using a supported controller, such as the HPE Smart Array controllers, as not all controllers support LED management via iLO.

5. If you are logged into the operating system, try using the HPE Smart Storage Administrator (SSA) to control the disk LEDs. Sometimes the iLO interface alone might not be sufficient, and SSA offers more direct control over storage components.

6. If the LED is still not functioning, it could indicate an issue with the drive itself or a hardware issue affecting the controller or the backplane. Running diagnostic tools like HPE Insight Diagnostics or using iLO's health check features can help detect any potential hardware faults.

The above steps helps you to figure it out the what might be the cause. Let me know how it goes.
