Expanding a Raid 5 array on a Smart5I controller

I need to add more space to an existing raid 5 array on a DL380 G3 with a Smart Array 5i controller. I have calculated that it will take about 45 hours for the expansion to complete. Which is not a problem.
Here is my question: Is it okay to reboot the server while an expansion is in progress. I believe that the expansion will just pick up where it left off after the reboot. Can anyone verify my assumption?

Re: Expanding a Raid 5 array on a Smart5I controller

You adding two more 72.8 GB ?
It might take less than you believe
Parity might take that long, however not data.
Time might depend from Priority for rebuild (if BBWC used) and server activity
If you restart Server Hw will start over from place where it stop

Re: Expanding a Raid 5 array on a Smart5I controller

Thanks.

Actually I'm adding (2) 146gb disks to an existing 9 drive raid 5 in an external storage cage.

No BBWC.

I don't have a problem with the long expand time. I really just wanted to make sure that rebooting the server in the middle of an expansion wasn't going to cause a total loss of the raid 5 array data.

You answered that part- many thanks.
