What is the fastest processor (actually the processor with the most amount of cores) that I can put into an HP Gen8 MicroServer (model 819185-421)?

Solutionthis server is compatible with below processors.
Processor
Intel® Celeron® G1610T (2.3Hz/2-core/2MB/35W) Processor
Intel® Pentium® G2020T (2.5GHz/2-core/3MB/35W) Processor
NOTE: Intel® Celeron® G1610T and Intel® Pentium® G2020T support up to 1333MHz DDR3 memory speed.
Intel® Core™ i3-3240 (3.4GHz/2-core/3MB/65W) Processor
NOTE:Intel® Core® i3-3240 support up to 1600MHz DDR3 memory speed.
Intel® Xeon® E3-1220Lv2 (2.3GHz/2-core/3MB/17W) Processor
NOTE: Intel® Xeon® E3-1220Lv2 supports up to 1600MHz DDR3 memory speeds
Make sure to verify the DIMM speeds before changing the processor.
All these processors are of 2 cores. I suggest you to use any one of these processors as these are tested on this server.

Re: Fastest processor (most cores) for HP Gen8 Microserver (model 819185-421)
I have an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3470T CPU @ 2.90GHz installed in this server and it works wonderfully.

Re: Fastest processor (most cores) for HP Gen8 Microserver (model 819185-421)
A bit of a zombie thread. I have 2 microservers now running these:
[ 0.137289] smpboot: CPU0: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1280 V2 @ 3.60GHz (family: 0x6, model: 0x3a, stepping: 0x9)
Origintally they came with the i3 and the 65W heatsink. Since they never get their cores pegged, there have been no problems related to heat this year. (ambient 34'c at time!)

A good option to stay at 45W is the Xeon E3-1265L V2
You can find it for around 50$ from china on ali or ebay.
Anything more powerful and you would need to change cooling.
The HP heat sink for cpu up to 65W had ref: 832667-001

Re: Fastest processor (most cores) for HP Gen8 Microserver (model 819185-421)
All 3 of my microservers came with the i3 / 65W heatsink. Even thrashing it with the 1280 was not a problem.
2 of them have been retired since I added a TM200 (which isn't upgradable but has 8c) and a mysterious ML30 Gen10 board that isn't.
