Re: Hard disk config
William,
First do some basic troubleshooting:
Is a correct SCSI terminator on the end of the SCSI bus?
Do the drives have a termination jumper in place?
remove it if there's a separate SCSI terminator on the cable, if you don't have a separate SCSI terminator then only terminate the last disk on the SCSI bus.
Connect the first disk and look if the controller sees it: write down SCSI ID, do this for disk 2,3 & 4.
Are all disks seen when they are the only disk on the bus?
If yes: does each disk have a unique SCSI-ID?
If no: change it, if yes: try connecting 2 disks: does it work? add a 3rd disk? still works -> add 4th disk.
Maybe there's a hardware problem in one of your disks.
Try resetting the Adaptec SCSI card to defualt: Enter SCSI selcet utility during POST with CTRL-A and press F6 to reset to default.
What are the exact types of harddisks you're using???
Do you have a spare SCSI cable to use?
Or a spare SCSI adapter?
Good luck,
Marco.
