I want to disable the controller and connect the drive to the normal ide controller. same as the one used for the cd rom. Since i will not have other redundant disk
How can i disable it and specify to use the internal ide controller as the boot device ?

Re: How to disable the SBC-6 ATA raid controller
Internal IDE controller is only used for CDROM and will not support harddrivs.
You can disable the SBD-6 ATA controll in the Bios:
F9 - PCI devices and disable that controller
- I would recommend using 3rd party ATA ide controller to connect drives to it. How will you use the CDROM as first boot; and then use the Same ide for first boot from Harddrive ; dosenot work.
CDROM - is on one controller
Harddrive on another controller.
Hope this helps.
Tarek.

Re: How to disable the SBC-6 ATA raid controller
I was able to install the HD in the IDE controller, then was able to install linux there, but cannot make it to boot. once return the HD to the raid ata controller it found HD and linux but kernel panic.
So you are telling me that I have to put a normal ATA controller., the other is to be able to get driver for fedora, can you help me? what are the options
Thanks

Solutionhttp://www.promise.com/
What I am saying is you need a boot controller that will be first boot; since the emedded controller will not do the trick.
3rd party ATA controller will do the job.
Best regards,
Tarek.
