How to install windows 2003 in LC II

Can anyone here help ? i want to install windows 2003 in LC II but after boot from the WIN 2003 CD and installed and reboot, and i will the following errors :

A disk read error occurred
Press Ctl-Alt-Del to reboot.

I have seen that error before on an LH3. I think the problem with that was that I was using the latest RAID controller driver from HP.com but the RAID controller itself had really old firmware on it.

The solution in my case was to upgrade the system BIOS, the controller firmware, and the drive cage firmware and reboot. Once the updates were completed, I could boot to the newly installed Win2K Server.

I know the situation isn't exactly like yours, but I think it might be helpful to you: make sure all firmware and BIOS revisions are up to date.

Thanks for helping, however after i update the BIOS and firmware, i still could not windows 2003 work. is that any procedure or step to be taken before the setup ?

i setup the windows 2003 thru the CD, is that ok ?

I am sorry. I don't know what else to tell you. Apparently, the issue I saw with the LH3 was caused by a version conflict between the driver and the firmware being used (Microsoft even has a TechNet article about it http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=216645). That's why the soultion was to update firmware and bios in that case.

But, if updating the BIOS and SCSI controller firmware didn't fix the problem for the LC II, I don't know what more I can tell you.

I hate to say it, but the system could just be too old for Windows Server 2003.

Perhaps a POST on the WinServer 2003 board would provide more answers for you.
