HP & Dell USB Mouse is not recognized by USB HUB

Hi there,

when I plug in my HP or Dell USB mouse into my Compaq 6910P, the USB Hub states " Unknown Device"
I can plug in a USB memory stick and it's fine.
I can even plug in a Microsoft Mouse and it works fine.
So the USB port is OK and the Microsoft mouse is good.
Windows should natively recognize all usb mouses ?
Any ideas on why this is happening ?
