Dear Friends,
We have recently got HP DL380 servers. We have installed Redhat Enterprise Linux AS 3.0 on it. But we found that the performance is very unsatisfactory even when compared to a P-IV m/c with 512 MB RAM. So i would like some ways to improve the performance. If the processor is 64 bit, then i hope that installing 64 bit version of RHEL coupled with installation of 64 bit versions of other softwares we use like JAVA,MySQL etc will give us a superior performance. Please kindly tell me whether HP DL380 is 64 bit.
Thanks in Advance.
With Regards
Sathanam

Solution
No. All of the DL380 series are IA32 processors.

Re: HP DL380 - is it 32 bit / 64 bit processor
Sathanam,
Some clarification.
All the current Intel CPU's including the Xeon are 32-bit (IA-32). The only Intel CPU that is 64-bit is Itanium. There is another x86 CPU that is 64-bit (actually it's 48-bit) and that is the Opteron from AMD.
Sounds like your issue is more about software.
