HP Netserver E45 - Some strange Questions....

If have some questions regarding the HP Netserve E45 - I realise that this is an old system but maybe someone can help...So here are the questions...

I recently aquired the HP netserver e45 from a friend to help me get my business going. Unfortunetly my friend couldn't find the CD's for this system,

Question 1..so is there a way I can download ALL the files necessary to re-install the operating system for this server?

Question 2..how much is this server worth if I should want to sell it on to someone else to start their business, so that I can buy a more modern system...?

I have checked the configuration and it has the following upgrades..

All the normal features of a E45 Netserver...Plus...
- 228 MbRam
- Pentium II MMX 266 Mhz processor
- 2 Mb Graphics
- Seagate Cheetah Additional Hardrive 20 Gb

Sony Monitor 18" Screen Trinitron MultiScan 17sf II...

Question 3...If I decide to keep this computer because it isn't worth selling on, can I install say a windows 98 operating system to use it as a normal desktop pc for one of my employees?

You can buy a used e45 on ebay for about $200 to $300.

Hope it helps.

Re: HP Netserver E45 - Some strange Questions....

hello there,

Yes on the internet tou can find the drivers for the network card;scsi card ...
but only for "server" operating systems.
have a look on:
http://netserver.hp.com/
click on "retired servers" and choose E45

Windows 98 is not a server OS and NO drivers are available for this "oldie"

Re: HP Netserver E45 - Some strange Questions....

Actually I was able to convert an e50 into a user workstation running windows 98. I removed the SCSI drive and installed an IDE, but all other cards were left intact and I was able to find drivers for everything for windows 98. I don't think there would be any major differences between e45 & e50.
