Re: HP Netserver e60 install CD

Hi Laurence,

I don't think you can find the navigator CD but if your problem is the drivers for Windows NT 4.0 you can download the drivers from this link
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?locale=en_US〈=English&pnameOID=18330&prodSeriesId=45937&prodTypeId=15351&basePartNum=ns819&locBasepartNum=ns819en&os=Microsoft+Windows+NT+4.0&tech=Driver

Let me know if you need more help on that

If you need a copy of M.04.05 for your E60 mail me on malvind@tindirect.com and I am sure we can come to some arrangement.
I am in Cirencester by the way

Re: HP Netserver e60 install CD

Laurence,

You do not need the Navigator CD. I am including the most common error message received when OEM drivers are needed for a NT 4.0 install.

ERROR: NT Server 4.0 may error when OEM drivers (in this case, HP drivers) need to be specified. NT Setup will automatically detect hardware & load the wrong drivers into memory. Even when the correct drivers are specified, NT may return a message similar to â Setup did not find any hard disk installed in your computer. Setup can not continue, press F3â .

Solution: Start NT install with the 3 diskettes, which allows a SKIP on autodetection. Pressing during the boot of the NT CD also skips the hardware autodetection, allowing you to boot directly from the Microsoft NT CD. But if no hard drive is found, use the 3 diskette method.

Needed: The HP driver's diskette(s) from the HP web site or HP Navigator CD.

1. Install NT Server 4.0 beginning with the 3 NT install diskettes. If necessary, the disks can be created from the NT CD.

a. To create the 3 NT install diskettes, go to a DOS prompt. Have the NT Server CD loaded. If the CD starts an install, cancel.
b. Change the drive letter to the CD-ROM drive.
c. Type cd\i386 to change to the \i386 directory on the NT CD.
d. If you are at an NT command prompt, type winnt32 /ox. If not, type winnt/ox and press
e. You will be prompted for 3 diskettes. Install disk #3 is created first. Install disk #1 is the only bootable diskette.

2. Start the NT install by booting off NT Disk #1. Do not have any CD in the CD-ROM drive.
3. During Disk #2, the install will proceed to a screen where setup wants to automatically detect:

"Setup automatically detects floppy disk controllers and standard..."

At the bottom of the screen is an option to SKIP Detection. Press to Skip Detection.

4. Should now be at the screen where drivers can be specified. If a HP NetRAID card is installed, PECIFY the NetRAID driver first.

5. PECIFY, then OTHER. Select the SCSI driver from the HP driver's diskette (Symbios or Adaptec, depending on NetServer model).

6. Specify one more time. Instead of pressing on OTHER, use the Up Arrow key. A list of NT drivers is displayed. Select the IDE ATAPI 1.2 CD-ROM.

Note: For a SCSI CD-ROM, no CD-ROM driver needs to be specified. Older NetServers such as the LH Pro use SCSI CD-ROMs. All E-Series and beginning with the LH3, the CD-ROM is IDE.

7. Press to continue installing NT. It should report the SCSI and IDE CD-ROM dev
It just doesn't get any better then this
