HP Server Console Switch

Can anyone tell me how to get a link light on a 0x1x8 KVM Server Console Switch? When I connect it to my network, there are no link lights. I know this sounds stupid, but it's all the information I have.

Re: HP Server Console Switch

The device is connected correctly and I can control the server with it, but I can't detect it on the network with the HP IP Console Viewer. I want to be able to remotely manage it via IP address and can't figure out a way to do so.

Re: HP Server Console Switch

Hi Mike,

I don't think you have an IP-manageable switchbox. The IP-console switchboxes only come in 16-port versions from HP. The RJ-45 port is only for cascading a 2nd switchbox. What is the part number of your switchbox?
You would need a 1x1x16 or 3x1x16 model to access the console remotely.

Re: HP Server Console Switch

Please do not confuse IP console switch with Server Console Switch, IP Console designed for IP Console Switch.

Re: HP Server Console Switch

Thank you very much!! I only have an 8-port KVM. If I can only cascade from that, you have answered my question. Thanks again!
