Re: ide harddrive

TERRY,

Yes, you can put in an IDE hard drive. I haven't used a Netserver LC in years, but I suspect all you have to do is install the IDE drive and remove the SCSI one. You may also need to enable the IDE controller in the BIOS, which is done using the Eisa Config Utility (ECU). This utility is available on the Navigator CD that comes with all Netservers of this vintage and later, or it can be downloaded from http://netserver.hp.com and executed from floppy. As I think about it, you may also want to adjust the boot order, if there is an option for it on this model.

When you go to netserver.hp.com, click on the link for "other retired Netservers", then click the link for "HP Netserver LC". You'll find a wealth on stuff, including the ECU, drivers, diagnostics and manuals in PDF format.

Re: ide harddrive

No, IDE is not supported on this system. You can attempt to make it work, but it is not a supported configuration. To attempt this you will need the latest BIOS and ECU for the system. You can find those here:

Re: ide harddrive

TERRY,

I can't find any documents saying whether or not IDE disks are SUPPORTED on a Netserver LC, but I did find an installation guide that describes how to do it...

I have attached a text file that excerpts the info specific to IDE drive installation on the LC. I have not personally tried it, so I would appreciate your feedback here as to how it worked for you.

Best Regards,

Dave
